Background: I am fascinated by the occurrence of the fret pattern in both ancient Greek and Chinese artifacts. It is possible and probable that simple geometric shapes can evolve simultaneously in cultures that are geographically separate. Some scholars theorise that there may have been interaction between the Chinese and Greeks in ancient times, advanced mathematics, astronomy and the fret pattern are indications. This sculpture is my response to that idea.
